Shannon volunteer Derek Clune has been named the 2019 winner of the Clare Older People’s Volunteer of the Year Award.

The 2019 Children’s Book Festival, the biggest annual initiative in the children’s library programme, will feature events in all 15 Clare County Council library branches during October.

Clare County Library and Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (LCETB) are co-hosting an evening get together for prospective volunteers in their latest collaborative initiative bringing Fighting Words creative writing workshops to Clare Tuesday 15 October.

Clare County Council’s Rural & Community Department aims to support the growth of towns and villages in County Clare and work in partnership with community and voluntary groups and other key stakeholders.

Clare County Library branches in Ennis, Shannon, Kilrush, Kilkee, Sixmilebridge, Scariff and Killaloe will host a series of events marking Positive Ageing Week 2019 from Monday 30 September to Friday 4 October.

Clare County Council signed contracts with Jada Kelly RAC Joint Venture for the delivery of a €2.7 million upgrade and refurbishment of a building in the Quin Road Industrial Estate in Ennis, which will become the new location for the Clare Civil Defence Headquarters.

A major event will take place at Dromoland Castle to mark National Women’s Enterprise Day 2019 on October 17th.

‘1919: The War of Independence’ is the theme of Clare County Library’s ‘Decade of Centenaries History Week’ taking place from 14th September to 20th September.  

A Clare County Council delegation, led by Mayor of Clare Councillor Cathal Crowe, hosted a meeting with Honorary Consul of France Dr Loïc Guyon at Shannon Airport on Thursday (29 August 2019).
