Green Business

Greening of businesses is an integral part of the Greener Clare programme, an environmental awareness initiative to support and promote locally led environmental projects and initiatives. The greening of businesses not only helps reduce business costs associated with waste, energy and water but also helps support local tidy towns groups with their Tidy Towns entry.

The Greener Clare Programme work in conjunction with the EPA Green Business, Southern Regional Waste Management Office and the Limerick Clare Energy Agency in delivering Green Business supports in the county.

EPA Green Business has developed a very useful and free online resource to help SMEs identify areas where savings can be made through improved environmental practices.

The new tool called TREE (Tool for REsource Efficiency) is funded by the Environmental Protection Agency and provides free, expert and confidential advice to SMEs to help them to achieve cost savings through greater efficiencies in water, waste and energy.

The tool, which allows business to carry out a quick assessment of their current business practices and awareness, takes less than 15 minutes to complete.

From the short questionnaire businesses receive a tailor made report with recommendations of where efficiencies relating to the management of their energy, water and materials within their business can be made.

The Southern Regional Waste Management Office also provide supports to business and industry by providing an information and support service in resource efficiency.
