Construction to begin on Quilty housing scheme next month
Clare County Council has signed a contract with Martin’s Construction Ltd. for the delivery of a new Clare County Council social housing development in Quilty.
Construction work on 18 residential units, the upgrade of the existing access road and landscaping to the adjoining Seaview Park Housing development will commence in late April following lodgment of the commencement notice to Building Control.
Funded by the Department of Housing, Planning & Local Government under the Rebuilding Ireland Programme, the development comprises a mix of 2-bed, 3-bed and 4-bed units in a range of single and two storey houses. The development, which has a contract duration of 16 months, is a high quality, low energy design providing quality housing for sustainable communities.
Mayor of Clare, Councillor Michael Begley, has welcomed the signing of the contract which he said “will be welcome news for social housing applicants in the wider West Clare area.”
Councillor Gerry Flynn, Chair of the Social Development SPC, commented, “I warmly welcome this new development and I look forward to the completed properties being allocated to families in need of homes during the latter half of 2020.”
The design team for the Quilty scheme was led by Healy Partners (Architect), P. Coleman & Associates (Civil Structural Engineers) and also included Moloney Fox (M&E Engineers) and Tom McNamara & Ptnrs (Quantity Surveyor).
