Design contracts signed for Tulla social housing scheme

Clare County Council has announced the appointment of consultants for the design of a new social housing scheme at Doonaun Road, Tulla.

The 22-unit development is funded by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government and is scheduled for completion in 2021 with construction expected to commence mid 2020.

The social housing scheme will comprise eight two bed-2 storey apartments, one four bed-2 storey unit, one four bed-1 storey unit (specially adapted), ten 4 bed-2 storey units and two 3 bed-1 storey unit (specially adapted).  

The project design team, managed by the Social Development Directorate of Clare County Council, comprises Thompson Architects (Architects), Hassett Leyden Flynn (Civil & Structural Engineers), Moloney Fox Consulting Engineers (Mechanical & Electrical Engineers) and Tom McNamara & Partners (Quantity Surveyors).

Deputy Mayor of Clare, Councillor Clare Colleran Molloy, commented, “This is very good news for applicants on the Council’s waiting list for social housing. I look forward to this scheme progressing to construction stage next year.”

Councillor Gerry Flynn, Chair of the Social Development SPC, said, “This development represents a very positive start to the new Council term and it is great to see the Local Authority’s housing construction programme progressing at pace.”
