Guide to naming new developments
- Prior to the commencement of development, proposals for an estate/street name should be submitted to the Planning Authority and the Secretary of the Placenames Committee c/o the Planning Department for the written agreement of the Planning Authority. This proposal should include a 1:10560 O.S map of the area with the site outlined in red and the proposed name and a list of alternatives and a rationale for their choice (6 copies).
No publicity material or publicity hoarding in association with the development shall be circulated or erected until the above has been agreed. - Estate and street plates should be of a design and at a location to be agreed in writing with the Planning Authority prior to the commencement of the development and shall be in place within 3 months of the completion of the estate and/or each phase and in the case of the main entrance estate name plate within 3 months of the occupation of the first house.
- A housing numbering scheme and associated signage shall be submitted for the written agreement of the planning authority and shall be in place within 3 months of the completion of the estate and/or each phase.
