Minutes of the Shannon Municipal District Meeting to consider the Draft Budgetary Plan November 2024

Location:  The Boardroom, Áras Contae an Chláir, New Road, Ennis, Co. Clare.

Officials attending in person: 

Noeleen Fitzgearld Director of Finance, Alan Farrell Director of Service, Anne Griffin A/Senior Executive Officer (Meetings Administrator), Tom Mellet, Senior Executive Engineer and Patricia O’Neill Staff Officer.

 

Item no. 1: Consideration of the Draft Budget – General Municipal Allocation (GMA) for Shannon Municipal District.

Cathaoirleach Pat O’Gorman convened the meeting and welcomed all present to this meeting to consider the General Municipal Allocation (GMA) in the draft budgetary process.  He then invited Noeleen Fitzgerald, Director of Finance to address the meeting.

Ms. Noeleen Fitzgerald addressed the meeting and outlined the budgetary process to date.  The 1st stage of the process was the agreement of the Local Property Tax (LPT) and this is now the 2nd phase for the members to consider the GMA 2025 for Shannon MD.   Ms. Fitzgerald outlined that back in 2014 when the GMA was first implemented the Shannon MD was allocated €44k and this sum has increased over the years. The proposed GMA for the Shannon MD for 2025 is €343,000 which will be subject to final approval by the full Council on 28th November.

The adoption of the budget allocation for the Shannon MD was proposed by Cllr. Pat O’Gorman and seconded by Cllr. Michael Begley and agreed by all the Members.
