Cllr Rita McInerney convened the meeting.

It was proposed by Cllr. Rita McInerney, seconded by Cllr. Michael Shannon and agreed by all, that the September Meeting of West Clare MD would be fully adjourned as a mark of respect to the late PJ Kelly (RIP), long serving former member of West Clare MD.

The members passed on their condolence to PJ’s wife Maura, daughters Alma & Aoife and son Barry John.   In paying tribute to PJ, he was remembered for his long service to Clare County Council, his passion for rural & community matters and his expertise in the field of planning law.    Even after his long service, the reality was noted that he was still doing work for the community contacting current councillors and officials up to the time of his passing.

The Executive also expressed their condolences to the Kelly family saying  PJ will be a loss to us all, adding that  he was a pleasure and an education to work with. It was commented on that at the inception of the West Clare MD in 2014 there was no need to discuss who the first Cathaoirleach should be with PJ unanimously elected.
