The historic lighthouse keeper's cottages at Loop Head are set to undergo renovation works as part of an overall project plan for the sustainable development of the popular West Clare visitor attraction. 

The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) and the Arts Office of Clare County Council are delighted to announce that the second Duala: Creator-in-Residence Scheme has been awarded to joint applicants Tara Breen and Nuala Kennedy.

Clare County Council has revealed details of a significant upgrade of the public realm in Ennistymon being undertaken as part of a capital project investment in the town.

It has been a long-term objective of Clare County Council to create a world-class Greenway along the route of the old West Clare Railway “from Ennis as far as Kilkee” that, crucially, connects with all of the towns and villages along the way. 

Clare County Council has been working closely with Fáilte Ireland and colleagues in Tipperary and Galway County Councils on a new visitor experience for the Lough Derg region, which will run throughout summer and autumn 2021 called ‘Adventure Lough Derg’.

Further to being noted at Cabinet Meeting today, 29th June, 2021, Clare County Council has engaged with Shannon Group to commence a due diligence process to consider the potential transfer by Shannon Group PLC of Shannon Heritage (Clare-based visitor attractions) to Clare County Council as a subsidiary company.

Councillor John Crowe has been elected Cathaoirleach of the Shannon Municipal District at its Annual General Meeting, held on Friday, 18th June, 2021.

Councillor Joe Cooney has been elected Cathaoirleach of the Killaloe Municipal District at its Annual General Meeting, held on 24th June, 2021.
