Blue flag awareness
The Blue Flag Campaign is an international eco-label for beaches and marinas.
The award covers broad criteria.
This year nine Clare beaches achieved blue flag status.
Awareness campaigns and activities
As part of our blue flag environmental education programme we actively promote and encourage the following:
- Participation in a 2 minute beach clean
- Participation in Clean Coast initiatives
- Think before you flush
- Leave no trace
- Protect our oceans from littering
- Clean up after your dog
- Comply with beach rules
Blue Flag beach talks
Each bathing season, during May and June, we organise blue flag beach talks suitable for primary school children. It involves learning to be a responsible beach user, water safety as well as environmental games. If your school is interested in participating email us at greenerclare@clarecoco.ie.
Blue Flag beach information
Each year all activities are posted on the Blue Flag information notice board located at all Blue Flag beaches. You will also find information here relating to water quality, environmental management as well as safety and services.
