Water supplies - Public & Private Group Water Schemes
Drinking water is monitored for microbiological, chemical and indicator parameters as part of an established monitoring programme in accordance with European Union (Drinking Water) Regulations 2014.
The following supplies are monitored:
- Public and private group water schemes supplying >10m3 per day
- Private supplies that supply <10m3 per day but is a commercial activity
The local authority is the supervisory authority for group water schemes. Results of all monitoring is sent to the EPA for publication in their annual drinking water report.
An internal reporting system is in place that allows constant appraisal of all drinking water results. A protocol is in place between Clare County Council and the Health Service Executive (HSE).
Where non-compliances are detected they are reported to the HSE and the relevant group water scheme.
