Road Closures and Parking Restrictions
Clare County Council will temporarily close roads to facilitate the holding of the St. Patrick's Day Parade. The following road closures will apply on a rolling basis from 8:00 a.m. until the parade finishes at around 12:30 p.m. or shortly thereafter.
- Steele’s Terrace/Newbridge Road (from Kelly’s Corner roundabout to the Club Bridge)
- New Road from its junction with Tulla Road to Newbridge Road
- Dr. Daly Road from its junction with Lifford Road and New Road
- College Road (local access only)
- Mill Road in an easterly direction from the Maid of Erin Roundabout to its junction with Bindon Street
- Harmony Row
- Abbey Street
- Francis Street from Francis Street Car Park to Abbey Street
- Bank Place
- Bindon Street
- Old Friary Lane
Diversions will be in place and pedestrian access will be available.
Parking Restrictions
The 2025 parade route includes Abbey Street carpark, with the Reviewing Stand located there also. There will be some restricted access to Abbey Street carpark, and some parking restrictions at College Road/Marian Avenue/Tim Smyth Park (southside).
To ensure safety of patrons attending the parade on March 17th, the following restrictions to parking in Abbey Street carpark will be implemented in advance:
- Sunday 16th March after 9:00am - some carparking spaces at the river side will be unavailable.
- Sunday 16th March after 9:00am - limited entry and exit points to the carpark. All drivers are required to exit the carpark by 6:00pm. Any remaining vehicles may require contact with An Garda Siochana to remove same.
- Monday 17th March - the carpark will reopen to the public in the afternoon once barriers have been removed following the parade.
In addition to the above restricted access, there will be restricted carparking to ensure safety of patrons attending the parade on Monday March 17th:
- Sunday March 16th from 2pm - Monday March 17th at 3pm - carparking spaces from the College Road junction to the Marian Avenue junction and Tim Smythe Park (southside) will be unavailable.
Additional Car Parking
Courthouse carpark, Lifford (until 2:30pm)
Waterpark Campus, Drumbiggle (until 6:00pm)
Disabled Parking
Friar's Walk Carpark and The Courthouse carpark, Lifford.
