The Shannon Town Centre Masterplan, funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage under the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund (URDF) and Project Ireland 2040 sets out a clear strategic framework for the renewed development of Shannon Town Centre, providing for a shared vision for its future development.
Clare County Council is progressing the development of the N19 Shannon Airport Access Road Improvement Scheme in partnership with Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the Department of Transport. Fehily Timoney and Clandillon Civil Consulting Joint Venture are the appointed Technical Advisors to advance the project through the planning and design stages.
Today, 7th October 2021, saw the launch of the ‘Shannon in Bloom’ initiative with the community taking the lead in planting 50,000 pollinator friendly bulbs across the Shannon Municipal District stretching from Clonlara to Shannon Town.
Councillor John Crowe has been elected Cathaoirleach of the Shannon Municipal District at its Annual General Meeting, held on Friday, 18th June, 2021.
Shannon Municipal District (MD), Clare County Council, in conjunction with elected members from Shannon Town and community groups, is delighted to support a new grassland management initiative. This pilot initiative will enhance biodiversity in Shannon Town and will include the introduction of five new pollinator sites.
Cllr Pat McMahon was elected Cathaoirleach of Shannon Municipal District at its AGM on 30th June, 2020.
The new allotment plots at Ballycasey More/Clonmoney West, Shannon, reopened on 18th May, 2020, following the completion of works on the site and in line with the Government Roadmap for Reopening Society and Business. The allotments were relocated from Illaunmanagh as the land there was needed for an extension to the burial ground.
Clare County Council is inviting applications from community groups in the Shannon Municipal District to the 2020 Community Grants Scheme before the deadline of 4:00 p.m. on Friday, 21 February 2020.
County Clare continued its impressive track record of success in the IPB Pride of Place Competition at the 16th annual awards ceremony held at Cork City Hall on Saturday night (17 November 2018).
