Proposed Section 38 traffic calming measures on R475 Kilrush road / L4661 to Ennis N.S.

Notice is hereby given that Clare County Council, pursuant to Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994, propose to install the following traffic calming measures: 

R475 Kilrush Road, Ennis, County Clare

  • Replacing the existing uncontrolled crossing with a raised controlled zebra crossing between Declan Coote & Co Accountants and Westpoint Retail Park.
  • Raising the existing controlled toucan crossing south of Clonroadbeg junction.
  • Installation of 15 linear meters of planter boxes, at the edge of the footpath where Cnoc Na Scoile lane meets the Kilrush Road.
  • Raising the existing designated crossing point at the entrance of Woodhaven.

L-4661 road to Ennis National School

  • Replace existing uncontrolled crossing with a raised controlled toucan crossing on the eastern arm of the roundabout leading into the school.
  • School gateway signs and high friction surfacing with thermoplastic road markings and pencil shaped bollards.

Plans and particulars of the proposed scheme are attached below and will be available until Friday 4th October 2024

Submissions and observations in relation to the proposals may be made by email to roads@clarecoco.ie or in writing to Administrative Officer, Clare County Council, Roads and Transportation Department, Áras Contae an Chláir, New Road, Ennis, Co. Clare before 4:00 p.m. on Friday 4th October 2024.
