The Manchester Martyrs’ Monument in Kilrush was recently restored by Clare County Council with grant aid from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage under the Historic Structures Fund and with the support of Cllr. Ian Lynch, Clare County Council. The fully restored monument was visited by Cllr. Ian Lynch and Pat Dowling, Chief Executive of Clare County Council, on Friday 6th January 2023.

Clare County Council wishes to advise of opening arrangements during the holiday period at Clare County Council offices, leisure facilities and recycling centres.

Extreme caution should be exercised by road users this morning and later today due to widespread black ice on the network. The winter maintenance team are continuing to treat the priority routes where safe to do so. The ongoing rain showers are affecting the treatment.

The National Emergency Coordination Group (NECG) met again this morning (Monday, 12th December) to assess the national and local picture during the ongoing cold weather this week.

Clare County Council is urging members of the public to be vigilant and prepare for severe weather conditions following a meeting of the National Emergency Coordination Group (NECG) this morning (Sunday, 11th December).

Clare County Council today (Friday, 9th December 2022) announced that it cannot proceed with the proposed takeover of the Clare Assets of Shannon Heritage at this time without real and meaningful support from Government. However, the Chief Executive of Clare County Council says the Local Authority remains open to further engagement on the future management and development of Shannon Heritage assets in County Clare.
