Notice of the Making of Amendment No. 1 to the Shannon Town and Environs Local Area Plan 2012-2018

Notice is hereby given, pursuant to Section 20(3)(d)(ii) of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended, that Amendment No. 1 to the Shannon Town and Environs Local Area Plan 2012-2018 was made by Clare County Council on 17th June 2019.

The Amendment shall have effect 4 weeks from the date that it was made i.e. 15th July 2019.

Pursuant to Article 6 of the Habitats Directive and Article 14 of the Planning and Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Regulations 2004, as amended, the planning authority has prepared an Appropriate Assessment - Natura Impact Report and a Strategic Environmental Assessment – Environmental Report for the Amendment.

The prepared reports summarise:

  1. how environmental considerations have been integrated into the Amendment.
  2. how:

(i) the Environmental Report prepared pursuant to Article 14 of the Planning and Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Regulations 2004, as amended;

(ii) submissions and observations made to the planning authority in response to a notice under Section 20(3) of the Planning & Development Act 2000, as amended;

(iii) any consultation under Article 14 of the Planning and Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Regulations 2004, as amended

have been taken in to account during the making of the Amendment.

  1. the reasons for choosing the Amendment, as adopted, in light of the other reasonable alternatives dealt with, and
  2. the measures decided upon to monitor, in accordance with Article 14 (j) of the Planning and Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Regulations 2004, as amended, of any environmental effects of implementation of the Amendment. 

Copies of the Shannon Town and Environs Local Area Plan 2012-2018 (as amended), incorporating Amendment No.1, the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) - Environmental Report, Non-Technical Summary and Environmental Statement, the Appropriate Assessment-Natura Impact Report, and the Flood Risk Assessment may be inspected at the following locations:

  • Áras Contae an Chláir, New Road, Ennis;
  • Shannon Municipal District Office;
  • Shannon Public Library;
