New allotments in Shannon

The new allotment plots at Ballycasey More/Clonmoney West, Shannon, reopened on 18th May, 2020, following the completion of works on the site and in line with the Government Roadmap for Reopening Society and Business. The allotments were relocated from Illaunmanagh as the land there was needed for an extension to the burial ground.

Clare County Library launches Summer Stars 2020

“Enjoy choosing books that you might like and read as many as you wish during school summer holidays at your own pace. Summer Stars is all about reading for pleasure.”

That’s the message from Clare County Library as it announces that the annual summer reading programme, Summer Stars, gets underway for children on 15th June, with additional online activities for all who sign up.

An Taisce announces Blue Flag and Green Coast Awards for Clare beaches

An Taisce, the National Trust for Ireland, has awarded the prestigious international Blue Flag to nine Clare beaches, including Whitestrand Miltown Malbay, Ballycuggeran, Whitestrand Doonbeg, Mountshannon, Cappa (Kilrush), Fanore, Spanish Point, Kilkee and Lahinch. In addition, and for the first time since 2005, Kilrush Marina has also been awarded a Blue Flag.

Clare Green Schools receive 32 Green Flags

The 2019/2020 academic year marks the 23rd year of the An Taisce Green Schools programme in Ireland. During May, 32 Clare schools were awarded the Green Flag for their work on the themes of Litter & Waste, Energy, Water, Travel, Biodiversity and Global Citizenship, with four schools receiving a Green Flag for the first time.
