25 Clare schools awarded a Green Schools Flag

The 2023/2024 school academic year marks the 26th year of the An Taisce Green Schools programme in Ireland. This month saw 25 Clare schools being awarded the Green Schools Flag for their work on the themes of Litter and Waste, Energy, Water, Travel, Biodiversity and Global Citizenship.

The Liverpool Céilí Band Exhibition at Clare Museum

The Liverpool Céilí Band originated in post-war Liverpool and became famous as a traditional Irish band, entering its first Fleadh Cheoil competition in Thurles in 1959 and subsequently becoming the first non-Irish band to be crowned All-Ireland Champions in 1963 at Mullingar, a feat they repeated in 1964 at Clones.

13 Clare Locations Receive Blue Flag and Green Coast Awards

An Taisce announced on 20th May 2024 that Blue Flags have been retained for the 2024 bathing season by eight Clare beaches, namely Ballycuggaran, Fanore, Kilkee, Lahinch, Mountshannon, Spanish Point, White Strand Doonbeg and White Strand Miltown Malbay. Ballyallia Lake, Bishopsquarter, Carrigaholt Beach and Seafield have each retained the Green Coast Award. Meanwhile, Quilty beach is a first-time recipient of the Green Coast Award. Kilrush Marina has been included in the list of Blue Flag Marinas for the fourth consecutive year.

Cruinniú na nÓg, a national day of free creativity for children and young people under 18, returns to Clare on 15th June, 2024, with a vibrant line-up of workshops and performances aimed at unlocking the creative potential of our youth. This flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme’s Creative Youth Plan has been a source of inspiration since its inception in 2018.
